I'm a third-year DVM-seeking-PhD student in Biomedical & Biological Sciences at Cornell University, where I am fortunate to be advised by Dr. Rafael Kroon Campos. My research asks how alphaviruses interact with host defenses in both their vertebrate and mosquito hosts. I am broadly interested in RNA biology, virus-host interactions, and vector-borne disease.
Previously, I completed my DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa in Brazil, where I worked under the mentorship of Dr. Alex Pauvolid-Corrêa at the Laboratório de Virologia Veterinária de Viçosa (LAVEV) studying enzootic arboviruses. In 2023, I was also the first Brazilian selected for Cornell's Veterinary Investigation Leadership Program in its 30-year history, where I was very lucky to work with Dr. Sarah Caddy at the Baker Institute for Animal Health on antibody responses to canine parvovirus.

Bite Club: a game about mosquito-borne viruses
A free browser game for high school students. Players put the dengue transmission cycle in order, find the temperature where mosquitoes are most dangerous, clear a yard of breeding sites, and work through patient cases to pick the right diagnostic test. Every answer links to its CDC, WHO or peer-reviewed source.
